I signed up to do the Arch ride for the first time this year. Anyone else doing it? I'm wondering what people usually do for a shuttle. I think I may just ask a friend to drop me off at the start that morning, but was wondering if anyone sets up vanpools or anything?

Usually, riders buddy up a shuttle for this one. That's what I've done in the past. There are no organized van-pools setup by SDMBA.

I see you already posted this question on the SDMBA forum. That's where the traffic regarding carpools is usually located in past years. I'm guessing the carpool notices/requests will start ramping up in the next week or two.

Yeah. Nothing on there other than occasional adventures of a beaver.

You have to be a member to be invited to ride and that came via email. I "think" you could join and then ride if spots are available. Check their FB page which is where most of their info goes nowadays

I have not received an email saying the ride is full.

Join and email the SDMBA membership address asking to register for the Arch.

As of yesterday, I believe there are still around 30 or so spots left. Hope to see you out there.

Just now:

4/20 Update:Less than 12 member spots are still available and last chance to get a t-shirt will be Friday 4/22 early morning. If you are not a member and would like to do the ride, join SDMBA and then email SDMBA membership to get ride sign up info.

A couple of us pre-rode the course last weekend, they still had a couple sections to finalize.

There are some route changes vs prior years mostly because SD can't help itself from building more houses everywhere. I'm not gonna spill the beans on what's new but overall I like the new route a little better than the old. Though that may be just because it's different. Some changes were improvements, others were just necessary to complete the route. Tunnel 4 is now officially, and legally, part of the route- about friggin time!

Baby rattler was first obstacle on the day

A bit of horse trail was surprisingly nice - partly shaded, slightly downhill and lightly used (no fresh piles). Nothing says nature like 10 ft wide and lined by wood fencing on both sides!
Image

A bit of welcome shade before the Hellfin climb. Thankfully the Once is Enough descent down to Hodges is still IN. I couldn't wait to ride that excellent section of TRAIL.

Plenty of flowers out too

And plenty of green

Skirting round a new housing development

Owhee trail...or is that Lilac?

Jungle Trail 2.0

Someone been buildin jumps on the trails. Guess if you go fast enough you sail through the uprights?

Good day all in all, nice to finally get a long ride in.

Nice TR and pics Evdog. Was wondering if Once Is Enough means the gravel fireroad descent from Quail Trail to Hodges.

No, Once is Enough ought to be the ascent.

Cool report. Glad they added Tunnel 4 in. Looking forward to seeing the reroutes. Guantlet was super overgrown (mostly just grass) when I rode it 4 weeks ago. I hope some did some maintenance out there. :)
