So who has Retro Rides still??

I have my old 92 Bridgestone MB2 that I'd like to ride occasionally.

Who else would want to dedicate one day a month as a Retro Ride??? I'm thinking 4th Saturday of every month could be Retro Ride Day.

Anyone else???

I had an '88 Gary Fisher a coupla years ago, but the problem was the brakes absolutely sucked for modern trails. Also, the stock gearing was too tall for this girlie-man. I rode it at Elfin Forest, and it wasn't enjoyable.

When I've gone out on the MB-2 it's usually by myself because I know if I ride with anyone on a new bike they will be much faster everywhere, so a Retro Group Ride would be fun.

I figure if you've got it hanging in the corner, dust it off, put air in the tires and ride it. At the very least it will remind you why you like your new bike so much!

I just did. It was fun, and I even surprised myself and caught some air on the way back...probably due to the relatively light weight. Well, and maybe the whisky. I was surprised by the taller gearing, mentioned by Bulldozer27. Brakes were okay, didn't miss the dropper post, and shifting might be acceptable if I lubed or replaced the cables. But my overall impression was that, while still fun, the biggest contrast was comfort, or lack thereof. The XC riding position, hard tail, stiff bar, and small diameter grips bothered my back and wrists (but then I am used to full suss and Ergon grips). Thank you for the inspiration to go retro tonight.

Excellent, I think we can certainly have a few people out for a ride.
