^^^ Great picture. For some reason, it reminds me of that famous Andrew Wyeth painting of the woman in the field looking at the houses in the distance. Maybe it's all the grass and the shape of the horizon.

A fine evening for a spin around the lake and down Serpentine. We saw a great blue heron and two roadrunners at the start, and even better, an Augdogg and a Belizean, sporting headlamps, at the finish.

Not a DT grom, but a fun grom vid anyways:

[added]:
And a few years later... this same grom goes big:

That's my grom Marcos with the sunglasses, next to Milo's grom Joshua with his new full suspension birthday bike. We had a fun time at LPQ yesterday!

Another grandson was in town today, and hadn't been on a ride at Calavera with me in a year or two. Hot and humid today -- the phone was steamed up when I pulled it out of the Camelbak on Prom Hill. Paul is 15 and will age out of the grom category soon. He wasn't used to the gears and moto-style brakes on a mountain bike, compared to his BMX bike, but he did great! That old Spesh grabbed more air today than it ever did when I was riding it...well, at least intentionally. I considered having him re-run the berm trail for a jump shot, but didn't want to be the bad grandpa who brings him home injured. Added bonus -- pelicaning a beer with the DT crew afterward. Half-bad grandpa?
