Favorite Trails: all of them
I did it.
I was wrong.
And, I sincerely apologize to all who were negatively impacted.

Again, I apologize to all.

I called the Park Ranger Mel Naidais over a week ago after a friend/fellow rider talked with me about what I had done.
He was kind enough to have a reasonable conversation with me and point out my HUGE mistake.
After that, I identified myself and took full responsibility with the Ranger.
Freely and fully admitted, that I had made a terrible mistake
And, I apologized profusely.
Finally, I made it clear that I was ready to do whatever he(the Ranger) asked me to do, to make amends.

My misguided goal was not to do "evil".

I love the trails.
I love bikes.
And, I love mountain biking.

My three goals(terribly misguided and stupid) were to:

1. Open up sight lines by trimming back brush that created blind spots. To create more flow and reduce all the stopping, starting and skidding that take place. And, to reduce likelihood of people riding into each other.
I was wrong and shouldn't have done that without permission.
I am sorry.

2. To trim back months? years? of brush encroachment on the original trail construction.
Much of this growth was causing more and more off camber trail erosion, as riders kept riding farther and farther off the original trail to keep their legs from touching the brush.
I was wrong to and shouldn't have done that without permission.
I am sorry.

3. To go out on rainy muddy days and hike the trails and repair/ rebuild, refortify eroded trail. This trail work wasn't as noticeable because of the lack of brush clearing.
That was me, too.
I was wrong and shouldn't have done so without permission.

The "trail work" I did was a huge mistake.

I made a mistake.
Again, I apologize to all that were negatively impacted.

I did NOT sanitize any trails.
They all follow the same path they followed before. I removed no obstacles or changed any feature of the actual, original trail.

As for Strava.
I like it.
And, I use it.
And, I'll continue to use it.

I am fast.
I like to go fast,
And, I will continue to go fast.
Very likely, a lot faster than you. I don't apologize for that.
I hope that fact doesn't upset you.
It would be a shame if "Strava times" and KOMs and the obvious differences in skill levels and athleticism that Strava clearly reveals………..are some part of the vitriol associated with this.
I hope, for your sake, that it's not about that kind of insecure ego stuff.
That you're ego is bruised because you don't have a KOM and will NEVER have a KOM where more than 4 riders have competed the segment.
Remember, it's just about bicycles and having some fun!
I have nothing for respect for the KOMs of the 3 Barrels climb, Iron Tread, Teote, or any of the other major league climbs.
I will never be able to compete with you.
But, I respect your skills and athleticism.

I'm an experienced rider and have ridden motocross starting at 7 and sport bikes on the track (at the club level) and at various super bike schools as an adult. Keith Code is the best, by the way.
I ride in control, I ride with skills acquired over a lifetime riding and racing on things with two wheels.
I don't apologize for that , either.

If you'd like a personal apology, I'll extend one to you happily.

Crawl/creep/slither out from behind your computer screen and and please approach me face to face.
Out in the bright sunshine.

I'm 6'3, 200 pounds and ride a black Specialized Epic. With a bear bell on it, unless it falls off.
Not a "downhill bike" , by the way. No seat post dropper, no fat tires and no big travel.
2.0 tires and 3 inches of suspension on a 29er built for XC racing and NOT downhilling.

I park and ride in the "Equestrian lot" off of 52.

I drive a beater blue Toyota Tercel with a roof rack. Please don't vandalize it! ;)

I'm hard to miss and I try to say hello and smile at everyone I see on the trails and off.

I'm also not quite the sociopathic, psychopathic, whatever other "pathic" I've been called.

Please, please, please feel free to approach me in a sane, reasonable way and I'd be more than happy to hear you out and apologize to you personally.

I would discourage you, though, from approaching me in a less than sane, less than reasonable way.
I would seriously discourage that.

Just to be 100% clear, I want to restate this in no uncertain terms.

I was very wrong.
I made an asshole-ish mistake.
I sincerely apologize.
I am contrite and do regret the mistake I made.
I own it.
I take responsibility for it.
And, based on what the ranger decides , I will make amends .

And, I will never do this again . Period.

Finally, I won't be back to check this thread or because I have better things to do than receive hostile anonymous PMs.

Peace.
A good life to you all.
Happy Trails.
Be safe.

So, if that's what you get off on, and it really makes you feel good, I won't see it.

Hey "Contrite" I wonder if you're the guy I met riding up Three Barrels while I was riding down maybe a month or so ago...

I hit the brakes slowed way down (even though it's hard going slower than I already go) and pulled way off to the right of the tail... while you came right up the middle of the trail...

Then just as I was about to give a friendly hello and thank you for letting by my front wheel dropped into a hole I didn't see off the side of the trail and I did the slow motion OTB...

Was that you... ?

No. That was me.

I really thought you should have pulled over way offer (is that a word?) to the right.

We need to coin a new word to describe what just occurred here -- a combination of "I'm sorry"; "I'm awesome"; and "F_ _ _ you."

Good start bankerboy, but it'd be awesome if random walk could come up with another STFU variation that applies to this phenomenon, especially when you consider where all of this occurred.

Really, that was you… too funny. I was cracking up the rest of the way down three barrels.

I was just about to say "how you doing" when my wheel hit that little hole and then I couldn't stop the slow motion OTB … then all that came out was F<.k.

Too funny…

Dude's apology was going so well... and suddenly it wasn't.
He should've had his cool/smart friend edit his post before revealing that he still doesn't get it.
I hope the ranger reads this.
