What is the deal with Elfin Forest? I have been there twice in the last two weeks in the middle of the week at about one in the afternoon and it has been closed! Does anyone know why?

I Googled all kinds of different keywords and couldn't find anything.

Best thing I found was a phone number to the Ranger, specifically given for trail closure updates and news: 760-632-4212

Yeah I did the same, no luck... Maybe I will call the ranger tomorrow. Any chance you are going to do Noble on Sunday?

I heard equestrians were caught hacking the canopy away, and they shut the whole place down for good. Surely the horses couldn't fit into that "elfin forest"!

That's a major bummer - and let us know what the reason ends up being if you find out. I make an occasional trip up there midweek as well, and that would be a heck of a disappointment.

Are they building something in the parking lot? I thought I saw something last week when I drove by.

Pine Valley Forecast

And that's at the bottom of the mountain. Expect snow at the top. So, not a chance. Have fun and stay dry...and warm.

I don't remember a canopy. But I don't remember Elf's either.

Yeah, I circled it on the bike to check it out. It's gonna be an interpretive center. Cool thing is the architect is James Hubbell. Uncool thing is it has to be pretty much bulletproof cause a-holes will vandalize darn near anything out in the sticks.

I don't know about Elfin closing during the week, but I'm assuming it's open this weekend.
