it probably pops up once very couple of weeks. is it worth buying? i want to get a FS rig, but I am a total cheapskate when it comes to making any type of purchase. is this bike the most bang i can get for $1700 or are there better (non-craigslist) deals out there?

It's a great price for that frame. Titus' are good bikes. However--there's a good deal of cheaper/similar stuff out there that's just as good.

Here's a few links to stuff I came across in less than 5 minutes. Not knowing what kind of frame you're looking for exactly, I listed a few All-Mountain and XC.

All Mountain Frames:

Yeti 575 frame at Jenson for $1600: http://www.jensonusa.com/store/product/ ... me+08.aspx

Intense 5.5 frame at Jenson for $1400: http://www.jensonusa.com/store/product/ ... 23+08.aspx

Titus Moto-Lite at Jenson for $1695, basically the same as the Chain Love deal if I'm not mistaken: http://www.jensonusa.com/store/product/ ... me+09.aspx

Chumba Evo on Greenfish for $1134: http://greenfishsports.com/product/352_ ... Shock.html

Santa Cruz Heckler frame on Cambria Bike for $1200: http://www.cambriabike.com/shopexd.asp? ... BIKE+FRAME

XC Frames:

Titus Racer X Frame at Jenson for $1695, basically the same as the Chain Love deal if I'm not mistaken: http://www.jensonusa.com/store/product/ ... me+09.aspx

'07 Haro Sonix LT on Greenfish for $529: http://greenfishsports.com/product/352_ ... -2007.html

Santa Cruz Superlight frame on Cambria Bike for $1200: http://www.cambriabike.com/shopexd.asp? ... BIKE+FRAME

Santa Cruz Blur XC frame on Cambria Bike for $1300: http://www.cambriabike.com/shopexd.asp? ... BIKE+FRAME

Intense Spyder frame on Cambria Bikes for $1500: http://www.cambriabike.com/shopexd.asp? ... BIKE+FRAME

Is it the Racer X? Thats a great FS XC rig for the money. I have a Titus Motolite and love it as a trail bike. There are a few Titus dealers in San Diego, you should go check one out and see if they will price match or at least come close. I bought my Motolite from California Bicycles and had a good experience. I say toss your money to a local bike shop and build a relationship for future service etc. Nothing against Chainlove but the boys at backcountry.com make enough money on all their online ventures. Good luck with your purchase.

2 cents..... :bang:

yeah, the one on chainlove is a complete bike, hence my temptation to pull the trigger on it. $1700 is more than i spent on the 4 bikes i had in my stable, so you can see the extent of my frugalness. at almost 30 years old, i'm still counting on santa to deliver in a couple weeks

I seriously considered Titus when I was looking for an XC/trail type bike and couldn't get up to the price for the Motolite. The bike they are selling on chain love from what I could 'google' is a racer X. Which is a pure XC bike.

Not sure what kind of riding you do or what your intent is for your purchase... but the Motolite will be a more versatile bike with a little more travel and heft at 100 - 127mm of travel vs 100 max on the racer x.

I ended up with my Chumba XCL and it can be had for $1299 if you look hard enough -- it's very similar to the Motolite in fit, just a few more grams and stands a little taller.

I may be selling my full built for slightly more than the racer X if you're looking for a 'Small'.

PM me if you're interested.

That chainlove deal is a complete bike, and it's a really good deal. You get a complete bike for the price of a frame, and the parts are good, not OEM throwaways.
