i saw a stoat at the top of raptor ridge once. they can kill a rabbit 4 times it size! awesome!

Nice pic. I see tarantula hawks flying all the time but its not too often you get to see them in the act

Thanks! I didn't know that is what they were called. I learned something new, and I can do some reading on the insect.

Rolling up La Costa between the bench at the top of NASCAR and the kiosk, suddenly I saw what looked like something blowing in the wind heading toward me. Looked again and saw a gopher snake chasing a mouse. The mouse saw me and did a 180º change in direction as the snake followed suit. Mouse escaped unscathed.

That's exactly what I thought after I read about tarantula hawks. I thought they were just oversized flies, but I was wrong!
