I want the real story behind that picture -- I'm sure it's as good as the made-up caption.

About 300 yards SOUTH of the hwy 52 overpass. 8:00AM. Me and da boys back from an hour and a half "canyon crawl" (this is the PERFECT time of year for 6:30AM rides). This little firecracker must have been laying in the hot sun for an hour, so by the time we came upon it, it was full of hiss and piss! I laid down the bike to keep between me and the rattling dude while reaching in for the phone. It over took the bike and keep coming at me and quickly past. It wasn't "after" me as much as scared and running toward cover.

And about 100 yards ahead was a couple on foot with a dog off leash heading north. I explained, they leashed!

Daley's Ranch top of Cardiac yesterday morning. It looked like a rattler, but couldn't be sure since there was no head or tail around! Sorry for small pic.

Saw a coyote and rattler in the middle of the trail yesterday on my Santa Luz/Black Mtn. Ride. The rattler was one of the more angry ones I've ever come across.

It's been almost 3 years since my first bobcat sighting in LPQ, so I guess it was about time for another. This was last Thursday night - I was riding the south-side main trail, about a mile east of the waterfalls, when I came around a corner and surprised this little fella. He startled, then scooted about 20-30 feet off the trail to stop and check me out. Unfortunately I didn't have a real camera, just my cell phone, plus it was dusk so the lighting wasn't great.

I even managed to shoot a short video, which I think turned out better than the still pictures...

Oh yeah, almost forgot.... later on the same ride, I came across a poorwill/nighthawk (not sure which) just east of Black Mountain Rd past the horse stables:

... and this healthy, fist sized bullfrog up at the top of Powerlines:

It was definitely a wild night!

Coming up the backside of Woodson:

This guy was probably 3 feet long

No picture of the big rattler coiled up next to a rock coming down Woodson on one of the narrow switchbacks. Looking at his size he could probably have struck a good 3/4 of the way across the trail at the spot he was in, I just kinda slid down the side with just the bike on the trail to keep my distance.

Juvenile hawk at Calavera. Same location as the photo PaulChavez posted a week ago in POD, but it may not be the same individual. Chest coloration is different. Lot of hawks out there! Tis the season.

BTW, I took this with a cellphone, and was only six feet away at this point. When he took off, his talons made a screeching noise on the metal.
