I've never ridden at "P" mountain, is there anything worth crossing the freeway for? I know a lot of people say the same thing about Discovery/Double Peak and we all know there is some good stuff "hidden" there

I would compare "P" mountain to Discovery/Double Peak as far as a quick local ride approx 10miles worth. The climbs over at "P" mountain are very challenging, a couple of which I've come close to cleaning on my best day, but not quite. It's possible but not by mere mortals like me. I would say the pain factor is higher than the fun factor on this ride but I still end up doing it soley for the challenge 3 or 4 times a year. If you have never done deer springs, I recommend that over "P" mountain. A lot more climbing but some fun descents. The short loop I do without crossing over to vista is 16miles with 3400ft of gain. A good one!
