Oh boy. I love soft, sandy, long climbs. My favorite. It's worse when after a hill like this, there's another one right behind it! But hey, after every up comes a down. Mountain biking is like the opposite of what you want in life.

Soft sand is the best. My absolute favorite is when you're really hauling and hit a sand pit. It's like surfing without a fin.

Jug Mountain Ranch, McCall, Idaho. It's a small bike park with no lifts but has a Unimog for an optional shuttle service ($5/ride). No charge to pedal up.
