EDIT: Idyllwild (Herkey Creek) it is. Meet at Herkey Creek Park, day lot off to the left, wheels rolling by 8:30. Let me know if you're in and I'll PM my cell #.

Directions to Herkey Creek Park

Anyone up for a solid ride this Saturday?

I have an all day pass and need to get away to some "real" mountains with pine trees and fresh air. Thinking about maybe the Idyllwild Spring Challenge loop, Tour de Noble, or something in the Santa Anas.

PM or post up if you're interested.

Well, I will be doing a real ride but it will be at Vail Lake. You are more than welcome to join us. 5-6 hours total ride time at a decently fast pace.

I'd be down for something under 30 miles. I've never been to the Idyllwild area to ride, so that sounds intriguing, as does anything in the Santa Ana Mtns (only done SJT/chiquito-and there looks to be lots more than that out there). Noble/Laguna is always fun but new is better!

I'm down for a shuttle! Noble I'm down for, and anything in the OC sounds good.

Anti-shuttler here. Fuck that. You have to pay to play!

My brother and I will be hitting up Idylwild this Saturday. Do you happen to have a gps link to this Alvin Meadows you speak of? We plan on doing the Open Course and some exploring.

Alvin Meadows is a different area in Idy. MTB Bill has maps on his site, look for Idyllwild under SoCal.

Thanks for the invite Big D, sounds like you're getting ready for the 12 hour in June? Not really what I had in mind for Saturday though.

You're in luck, the Spring Challenge loop is just under 30 miles; shorter if you cut out the Upper Southridge part which is likely. But I would take the singletrack up versus the fireroad climb and add some additional singletrack along the way.

Here's the link to the basic route, who's interested?

I need to keep my options open for Saturday (helping UCSD seniors get their engineering projects done) so if they don't need the help, I'm in!
