I'm always on the lookout for people to ride with, but it seems my 5'5", 150 pound frame intimidates people or something. Really, I'm a nice guy who enjoys helping riders who could beneft from my experience. If I can help you avoid the same dumb-ass mistakes I made in my training and racing, I've done my job.

People seem reluctant to commit to a specific time and place to ride, so I'm going to use this thread and post up where and when I'll be riding as well as with whom and you can just show up if you feel like it. No RSVP, PM or phone call needed unless you're late and want me to wait. (714) 348-8353

Right now I'm training for the Collegiate MTB series, which commences 9/26 and finishes 11/21. Expect rides to be very "XC" oriented with 50-60% road miles and lots of climbing. If you want to see how a Cat 1 XC racer trains, here's your chance.

Yu can also follow me on twitter "XterraZippy"

Tomorrow: 9/16 - Torrey Pines repeats. Solo. Meet at the bathrooms at the bottom of the hill at 8AM ready to work. I'll be in the UCSD kit and riding a Red Raleigh. My scruffy beard should be easy to spot. Planned ride time: 2:15.

Eric

8AM ride time for 2:15? I'd ride with you but our times are incompatible.

You can do as little or as much of the ride as you want. I'll just be going up and down Torrey all morning.

Eric,

Thanks for the offer, and I was wondering if you have anything planned for this Sat morning. If I can some, I will be glad to join.

Ali

I'll be at the 24 HOA pitting for Jonathan Sykes and I plan on riding the Spring Challenge Course starting at 8AM. Sunday I'll be riding the 24 HOA course for a few laps after the race is over.

Sorry, I don't think this is compatible training for my 80 mile dirt ride. I need seat time over 8 hours.

Ok, best of luck to you both, maybe some other time.

Come out to the 24 HOA and just "bandit" a few laps.

Thursday (9/17): Leaving the UCSD area at 7 AM, riding down to Fiesta Island, doing 2 loops around and coming back; 90 minute ride time, solo, aerobic paced road ride.

I have to be at work by 10.

Zippy,

Thanks for some of the great advices you've sent me. I'd like to hook up a ride with you. Any chance you'll do the East County mountains Mt. Laguna and Cuyamaca areas?

Starting 9/26, I have races almost every weekend. The only weekends I have open are 10/24, 11/7 and 11/14. I'll let you know.

post up your road rides next week, I can do any day except monday... I unfortunately just realized pedaling a road bike is not like pedaling a mtn bike.

Should be similar to this week. I'll try and post my rides early on the day before I actually do them.

Sorry for lagging on this, life got all crazy in Oct and Nov and I wound up bagging the Collegiate MTB series. Good thing I did because the SD State race got invalidated due to poor course marking and conference champs got bumped up a week because Davis ran into venue problems. Sucky is the race-directing at the Collegiate level.

I digress...

Thanksgiving weekend plans (very OC-Centric. Sorry...)

Thursday: Annual Rock N Road T-Giving ride. Climbing Harding TT to "4 Corners" for free coffee and bagels. Start time 7 AM at the Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary.

Friday: Le Tour de Tryptophan; 24 Hours of the Fullerton Loop. Starts at noon, ride as much or as little as you want, drink beer, etc. No entry fee, though a donation for the designated charity would be appreciated. I'm planning on 4 laps and pulling the plug. Meet at the Fullerton Courthouse and look for the "crowd".

Saturday: Heading back to Fullerton Loop for a cool down and to see how many laps the "winner" did.
