I'm gonna by one of these. The problem is I've never ridden a 29er. I've heard good and bad things about the 29er. I love riding Santee single trak so what bike would shine in this area ? Any input from the board would be appreciated 26 vs 29. And if any one is familure with the ssl or superfly would be great as well.

Wow, I will be my usual buzzkill self and say that those are both some pretty legit bikes and a bit overkill for the Santee singletrack, hopefully you will be using it for more than that.

Personally, I doubt I will ever buy another 26" HT, I am sold on the 29er in HT

For full suspension, hard to say. 26" should be easier to throw around.

Given those two bikes, I'd personally go for the Superfly. I'm much more comfortable and have fewer lower back issues on 29er hard tail.

I'm waiting for KHS's full race 650's to come out.

29'ers seem to be the way to go. The only people you see against them calling it a fad are the ones that dont ride em.

Why race bikes? That is unless you plan to race them.

I like things I can grow into. I'm very competitive and leave nothing to chance.
Just the way I am. Will I use it to race with, that's the plan.

9.9ssl will be lighter. On paper the 9.9 has better rear suspension although they are both similar. The wheels on the 9.9ssl are much better than the Superfly 100 elite.

It's also a Sram vs SHimano question also. And also the higher price of the 9.9ssl

They are both ROCKETS. If you plan on upgrading wheels at all consider the HiFi Pro or Superfly 100 elite.

I just got a Superfly 100 elite frame as a warranty replacement, My 09 HiFi pro only droped a pound going to the carbon frame, BUT much stiffer where it counts. Almost zero frame flex.

The Superfly all the way for me. But it might help us give you better information if you tell us your dimensions, ie: height, inseam, etc. 29er's are where it's at. Period. I haven't ridden anything but a 29er for almost three years, and don't plan on going back at all. If you are considering racing, and especially anything close to an endurance race(6+ hours), then the Superfly is the only option in my opinion.

If I were not 6'1" I would be on a 26in bike. lighter. and just as strong if not stronger. 29ers arn't the be all, end all, especially racing where weight can but doesn't always play a factor.
