So, I'm flip-flopping like GW on a WMD. Two vacations, 5 weddings and a new crown (in the mouth) over the last six months had left no room in the cash flow to buy a new Reign... so, I had to stick it out and ride the old SS 29er.

Well, woudn't know it, over the last couple of months of riding 2-3 times a week, I learned to love the little guy. So much in fact, I tried out my bosses Fuel EX9, and it just felt weird.

So, for the time being, EC remains a 29er only man. However, the Misfit sweep bars were not cutting it. IMO, the extreme sweep bars just aren't cut out for aggressive XC type of stuff.

Although a whole new bike wasn't in the budget, I may be able to scrap up enough cake for a frame... a custom painted Misfit frame to be more exact... more details to come.

Who else has some big wheel news/bike updates/reviews?

i saw some temptation on mtbr the other day. 400 bones for a redline. i'd have to lose a bike first.

i'm not digging the swept bars either. they're great for climbing, but that's where the benefits end. i'm actually kinda uncomfortable on mine.

What "carve and flow" trails are you talking about? Enquiring minds wanna know!

I'm lovin' the Salsa pro-moto bars with 17 degrees of sweep on my Monocog 29'er.

Those Salsas might be a nice compromise between the FUBars and a regular 5 degree sweeper.

I am loving my Monocog Flight with a few choice upgrades. However, I still like to ride my RFX. I have only had the bike for about 3 weeks and I think the big wheels are fantastic. It is set up as a full rigid SS and it rides amazing. I haven't been nice to it and haven't skipped on any trails and it just works great. I admit I am a little slower on the downs but I am much faster on the ups.

Recent 29er tweaks include a Niner Flat Top bar and putting a 42c CX tire on the rear. The bar is great and the CX tires is good for everything except big rutted climbs and descents. There may be some more aggressive CX tires thought that can bite in those conditions? Decided to try a CX tire to overcome that sensation on steep climbs whee it feels like every crank is the first crank, to me that's the negative of the 29er.

Yep all the shit talking about me leaving Turner, however I never put mine for sale.

Now Darryl has his For Sale, & will not be replacing it with a Turner either.

So long my 26" friend.
