Stick with the Kona, it's mucho sexy. I feel like the Swobo is for rich, yuppie hipster dudes who just found biking because it's "cool."

I was thinking about buying one of those awhile ago, but I'd have to agree with Phonger.

I'd buy the Kona, and put WTB Dirt Drops or Mustache bars on if riding down in the drops is too deep for you. Road handlebars make a whole lotta sense once you start riding, trust me.

Paddywagon review from dirtrag:

are you referring to the shear aerodynamics of been deep in the road bars? I dont mind it too much be a long ride can probably take its toll on you

There's just a huge wield area. You need a box wrench to remove the rear wheel. Part of the "gimmick" of the bike is that it comes with a box wrench/bottle opener on the frame.

Bottom line: it's a hydroformed aluminum framed, beer friendly single speed/fixed gear bike with a carbon fiber frame fork and drop bars. What's not to like? I mean, other than it's not a AM mountain bike?

Not a tonne. Chainstay is a little longer on the Del Norte. The gory details are on their site. For me, the transition to a drop bar was not as hard as I thought. I still get some neck pain, but it's improving. Getting the bike fit helped a little. The drop bars really help when riding into the wind, as do the multiple the hand positions on longer rides.

Just the same, it's no BFD to put some drop bars on the Sanchez, should the mood strike you.

I still encourage you to check out the Dispatch. They have one in stock at Switchback... just a few miles from The Path.

yeah, dig the kona. i'd do the same thing though. definitely not a fan of drops. i figure if i'm in the hoods 100% of the time, why have drops?

Options. Also, once you start riding more, you'll find that there are situations where having the drop position is favorable. I used to only go into the drops on high speed downhills for control, but now I spend about half the time in the drops.

A road drop bar has three major positions:
1) Hoods.
2) Tops
3) Drops

I use all three.

A MTB flat bar or riser only has one major position.

true i agree, i road my LOOK around tonight and found myself using all 3 positions...although trying to use the brakes from the hood it's a bit difficult to get some leverage

You get used to it. If you ride around with drops bars for awhile, you will not want a flat bar.
