i think fixies belong on the track. they're not really made to lean like road bikes.

I ws checking out a young hipster's fixie at a coffee shop in old town Temecula at lunchtime today. Dude was so minimalist he didn't even have handlebar tape, let alone a brake. I've gotta admit the whole pared down to the bare essentials thing appeals to me, but you've gotta be nuts to ride a bike on the street without any brakes. I do not want to be a hood ornament. He allowed as how he's been hit twice so far...

Insane. It looks really fun, but my fear of back-hoes and busses keeps me from attempting something as exciting as this. I suppose if I were to live there and was limited in mt biking, I would definatly give it a try.
