Putting a new chain on my Frankenbike SS rebuild. Sized the chain up but its short by about a quarter link. I would rather have the tensioner pushing up instead of down. Anyone have a 1/8" chain half link or know where I can get one local. Pulse may have them later in the week. Just don't know if they are 1/8" or not.

EDIT: Reread your post, just ask your lbs for a couple extra links they have laying around. Below are instructions if you decide to eliminate the tensioner.

A half link will only add or shorten the chain by 1/2 inch. To shorten by 1/4 inch, you will most likely have to add two teeth somewhere.

Here are is a link that may be helpful...

I added another link but had to use 2 snap connectors so basically 2 more links. Was to long so I had to use the tensioner pushing down. Soulcraft recommends pushing up. I picked up a couple half links and it fits perfect. I can almost go without the tensioner. Thanks for the link for the magic gear calculator.

If you have not gotten it yet, I've purchased them from Adams Ave bikes before. This was a couple of years ago but they had them. (unlike bicycle warehouse, whose folks insisted I had no idea what I was talking about and I must have mistaken a half link for a power link     )
