My SS 29er, with 2:1 gearing, currently has a WTB Nano 2.1 on the rear and WTB Weirwolf LT 2.55 on the front (both converted to tubeless).

I love how the bike rides, but I've been getting minor flats from side wall nicks and pin pricks. So long as there's sealant in the tube, it's usually fine, but those single ply XC tires are just not that robust. I'm toying with the idea of going UST but 1) it's more weight 2) it's more ROTATIONAL weight and 3) it's more rotational weight on 29ER and inertia increases exponentially as radius increases, therefore, OUCH!?
(Not that a UST tire will increase my radius, but going to UST tire on a 29er has an exponentially bigger inertia effect than on a 26" bike.)

Anyone have experience going from standard tires to UST tires on a SS 29er? If so, did you notice increased climbing difficult?

i'm currently using speci ground control 2bliss tires on my 29er. lightweight and thinwalled but grips great and rolls even better. other tires i've tried - tubeless: ignitor, nevegal. i'm currently 230lbs geared up and no issues for 6 months. knock on wood. approx 350 miles on them and they still look good. usually ride poway area and sycamore canyon along with otay lakes and rockhouse in chula vista. just to give u an idea on terrain.
using sunringle changer tubeless wheels.

btw, removed a kenda nevegal that was on when i bought the bike. POS tire.
