My STR swan song: http://www.socaltrailriders.org/forum/g ... post401662

I figure they'll delete it, so here's the text:

Closed threads

So a thread get's closed before everyone has a chance to weigh in on complete and utter bullshit?? Nice move.

Some people in that thread said things that are totally false and prove they didn't even bother to read the posts in the thread.

Mark said he didn't know what caused the **** issue. he said he knew the backstory on why DT was created, but not why the whole **** thing was done. So he asked. Maybe in a less than PC way, but he asked a legit question.

Then the usual gang of frigging tools steps up and says crap they wouldn't say to his face. Nice. This site has too many douches that hide behind their computers. Not all, but more than enough. You know who you are, we know who you are. I promise you you wouldn't say shit to someone's face, but you come off as hard. It's transparent and laughable.

Friggin' MTBR lately.

i still don't know what caused the ****. sure a few of us had negative things to say, but it wasn't anything we didn't say over there.

if you find the mtbr thread where george first talked about starting a new site, it was very similar.

I'll admit, I was a member back when Brett was I am Dino, and guys like McGrath, TurnerRob and Ecodork were regulars. Those were the good ole' days, the site was nice and cozy, and the only members on there cared about Mountain Bikes, and nothing else.

Back then you didn't need thick skin, because nobody raised shit in the first place.

Hey PacMan,

Don't know you that well, but you always seemed to be a big supporter of STR (before it went to shit), so I knew it took a lot to push you over the edge. Kudos to you for taking that stand. Hopefully, we can all contribute to making Dirt Treaders a fun and loose "alternative." Of course, that's before it all goes to El Dood's head and he starts declaring days of silence and censoring all of us.

I read that post on STR this morning and was wandering how fast it would get shut down, That thread did accomplish one thing, it reminded me to sign up to dirttreaders, so sorry for the bad news.

Well, I took offense to some morons who have never even met Mark talking crap when they don't even know what the deal really is.

And asking a legitimate question warrants all that?? Not in my opinion. I like to think of the internet and message boards as like being at a big table at a restaurant. Everyone on that board has a seat at that table and we are all sitting around talking. I try to never post something I wouldn't say to that person's face, sitting at the table.

Unfortunately, not everyone on STR is that way. As much as they claim that they would say it to your face, truth is--they wouldn't. And then to go and claim that they would is hysterical. I mean, it's a relatively local site, so it's not like people couldn't ultimately call them on their BS face to face.

Have I offered strong opinions in the past?? Sure, but I try not to ever blatantly disrespect anyone. If I have or if I do, well, then PM me, call me on it and let's talk about it. I'm 33 years old now. I have a son who is having some health issues. That takes up just about all the "worry" I have in me. I haven't got the time or energy to have beefs with people.

I realize the last several months have chilled me out a little. Maybe  . I'm still an outspoken douche once in awhile, but I honestly just want to hang out, talk about bikes and go ride them a few times a week with like-minded people.

first, let me just say that you guys seem to have a good thing started. keep up the good work.

i got banned from str for daring to ask why calepic/craig got to make a poll that essentially controlled content that he disagreed with. i, like most people with any sense, was amazed that he had the ignorance to call sladnas/mark an "ingrate", so i've moved on to singletrackminded. you guys seem to be san diego-oriented, but if you ever want to check out some o.c. trails--san juan to aliso to laguna coast/el moro--give me a ring. my wife and i even have a spare room in our house if you want to crash up here. one of these days i hope to get down your way for some adventures.

happy trails,
doug

It's just not worth posting or asking questions anymore at Estee Ar. I'm note sure what happened, but you can't even really talk about mountain biking without fear of being banned.

Estee Arr is like myspace now. The only reason you're still there is to keep in touch with your friends.

Most unfortunate.

Hey now--be careful!! To hear him tell it, he'll even say those things to your face--it's not just Cyber Courage.

Ya-effing-right!!! I'd love to see him talk smack to the face of some of the people here, who he's said negative things about. Now that would be interesting. And by interesting I mean painful.
