What a sad, sad day.

My thoughts and prayers, and those of my family, go out to the King family, and of course to poor Chelsea.

May we find a way to keep families from having to experience such insufferable grief in the future.

As a parent of three children, I cannot and do not want to fathom what the Kings are going through.

I am crushed she was not found alive but I am happy she was located. It is not the outcome we were hoping for but I hope helps with the closure.

I did not know Chelsea King or her family but I am thankful we live in a community with so many caring individuals. So many people wanted to help that the police had to turn away volunteers. It helps me believe most of us are truly good people.

To the Kings - I don't know how to put this into words. I am truly sorry for your loss. No parent or person should ever have to face such a tragedy.

What's so hard to take is how the best of what humans can be can be snuffed out by the worst of what humans can be. I hope her parents some day reach a point where smiling is the first thing they do when they think about her.

Premeditated murder. He dug that grave first and then went looking for a victim. I hope that mother fucker dies a slow death.

Ugh! I feel absolutely sick about this.

I hope there is a very speedy trial. With conviction followed by a very speedy and very public execution. Think Saddam.

F-ing Bastard!

Sad in every possible way. It's all been said already and I agree with what everyone has already said here.

Praying for the King family. They are going through what no parent should ever have to.

<sigh>

Keep in mind Gardner's entry still lists his Lake Elsinore address, although it does say he may have relocated. What also needs to happen is a major push to state legislators to make some serious changes to the laws surrounding cases like this. Email, call or write to your local and state reps demanding changes.

Unfortunately, Chelsea had to die for this pervert to (hopefully) get what he deserves, should he really be the guy. If she hadn't, he would have gotten someone else. It is so f'd up.

Read a story today that some guy in SD was convicted of possessing child porn images on his computer. He got sentenced to 8 years. Gardner actually perps on a 13 year old girl and gets 5 years. Something is definitely wrong with that. I just don't get how Gardner only got 5 years for his previous crime. That bothers me a lot. If he was in jail, Chelsea King would still be alive.

Also, what's up with the attack on December 27th being such a low-key event? I saw on the news where the Neighborhood Watch captain for that street said she hadn't even heard about it. And the news says that the SDPD detective in charge of that case has been unavailable for comment on it. If it was put out there more and Public Service warnings were given, maybe Chelsea wouldn't have been jogging those trails alone.

It seems to me that some people dropped the ball in a big way here and Chelsea paid for their mistakes with her life.

Sorry. Maybe I'm just venting.

I truly am in rage. No words can describe the feeling I have toward this sorry excuse for a human being and the judge that lowered his sentence at his first conviction.

My prayers and thoughts go out to the King family in tragic event.

So I live within a mile of a school, and there are two offenders on the street right behind the school. One of the offenses is a lewd act with a child under 14. I thought they couldnt be near schools.
