Time to party! I rocked my medic sim today. One of the students pretended to be giving birth, but he was yelling "my pussy hurts" in spanish which no one else uderstood but everyone was laughing so hard. Anyway my partner and I were able to maintain composure and run the call though the whole class and teachers were on the floor. Every now and then MM (the "mother's" initials) would squeeze the fake blood that would fly all over the floor. Totally in character screaming the she is going to die with my partner doing his best to deliver the baby. I get some baseline vitals on the mother but can't finish them all. She goes into shock, I treat her, we get in the ambulance and chaos doesn't end there. I'm trying to get my final vitals and assesment before getting on the radio with one of the worst radio reports I've ever done.
After all is said in done we grab our two chairs and sit front and center for our review. The whole time I'm pissed because I know I bombed the call. We get our feedback that was we needed to communicate more. Good things here, bad things there but communication was the big thing.
We clean up the room and then regroup with everyone in the class. I get my score from the call...a 93%! That is a huge score! To get a strong B is great, above 90% is unreal. Whew!
After all is said and done I got an overall 84% in the class with an 88% on that paper from hell. Once again my partner and I were complimented on not losing composure in the call and getting through though I thought I was terrible. What a relief!!!!
