With all of the things that our country manages to get wrong, there is still no better place in the world to be. Thanks for posting Jose.

Yeah, I think I've taken many a shady break and leaned my bike on that fence. Picnic table & little amphitheater to the right , restrooms to the left? Watch the hawks for a while...

Agree on the thanks to all who secured and preserve our freedom -- from Founding Fathers to Marine lifers to draftees to ACLU lawyers!

Oh...and bicycle builders.

OK, best 4th EVER!!! New house afforded us a view of the local fireworks show from our front yard!! About 200 yards from where they were lighting them off. Seeing the smiles on my kids' faces about it was priceless!!

Here's a play-by-play of how it went:

"What, their starting?"

*drags lawn chair out to driveway*

*watches bad ass fireworks for 20 minutes while being able to legally drink beer since I'm on my own property and not the public park*

"Wow, that was cool"

*drags lawn chair back up onto porch*

I figured I'd try out the new camera's "fireworks" setting. I guess I don't see why a camera needs one of those settings, but whatever:

But you don't drink... or was this one of those "just 'cuz I can moments?" I think everyone here could totally respect that

Sounds like a great time anyways. I went downtown and watched the fireworks from the rooftop deck of a condo complex my company just completed on Pacific Highway. We could see 3 of 4 barges on the bay, as well as OB, Mission Bay and seaworld in the distance.

While that was cool there's something to be said about not having to go anywhere to see them. I should know...if I open my front door at 9:55 any night of the week I can sit on my couch and watch seaworld fireworks. I'm a bit fireworked out at this point, and summer is just beginning.... :flame:
