Just watched the US win the silver in the FIFA final in South Africa. Dempsy comes through at 10' for an early lead followed by Donovan at 27'. Huge US is up 2-0 against the best soccer team in the world. The announcing over the game.......I've heard golf announcers with more excitement. Come to the second half and Fabiano scores in the first minute. Now the announcers have some more excitement, they are actually rooting for Brazil! Thank you fair weather fans! Anyway the rest of the game they wouldn't stay away from the tone that US was destined to lose. This started when we were up by 1 still. Gripe Gripe Gripe...ESPN sucks! The two commentators during the game could only talk trash about the US soccer team and kiss Brazil's ass. No wonder soccer isn't big here. The damn announcers are so quick to flip rather than get the country excited. We beat Spain not too long ago that wasn't supposed to happen. We placed second in the world in a sport that rarely anyone in the states' watches....Howard comes up with some amazing saves winning the Golden Glove, Dempsey gets the bronze cleat and the US wins second in the world....Can we get some passion from the US commentators!....

sorry got a little weird there....maybe I should sober up and ride

I hear you man. Back, when I was growing up in Poland, we would often turn off the TV sound dring the soccer games and turn on the radio for the commentary. Unfortunately you don't have that choice with soccer here.

But don't blame the commentators too much though - you're just bummed (and so am I) that the US lost. They had it and they blew it. Damn it! This win could have been huge for soccers' popularity here.

I was at the sports bar. I couldn't hear the announcers. I was happy about that.

Since I'm in that line of work, I completely understand what you're saying. Bandwagon announcers and enthusiasm seen only on a bingo night at the local VFW on a Thursday night can ruin the most exciting of competitions every time. I'm not a soccer/futbol fan by any measure, but to see the U.S. team accomplish what they did was awesome to say the least.
