Not looking for simpathy, but wow that hurt. I'm putting it around 8 on my list of pain events.

Had dropped 'Marla' off at the aitport this morning at 5 am and went surfing at scripps. Coming off the second wave of the morning tapped the sand with my foot and bam. Luckly hot water makes the pain go away, but it was interesting getting home.

Last time I got hit at Blacks and had to walk up the hill. Sucked! If you don't do the hot water thing, the poison travels up your leg and you get "dead" leg for a couple hours. Little Bastards. Anyone ever get hit by a Sculpin? Those little fu--ers make a sting ray feel like kiss from a pretty woman. :domo:

Hopefully the swelling has already gone down. If not, you may want to get an x-ray to ensure a piece of the barb is not lodged in your foot.

Guess it's time to start shuffling again

This is my third season lifeguarding in SD with State Parks and we get stingray victims all the time. I've seen 200 lb tough guys crying like little girls from those things; looks like it hurts!

The worst one I saw was a guy that got hit in the artery that passes behind the body part of the ankle. One in a million shot. Squirting blood is always cool.

Yeah, swelling is down but still a little sore. Went to the doctor to get a tetanus shot and they did a x ray to make sure no barb inside. Doesn't seem infected, which is good because they commonly do get infected and it is tough to get rid of the infection.

Well the damn thing got infected. Was almost completely recovered on Saturday, but woke up Sunday and could barely walk. On Cipro now, so hopefully it will clear up in a couple days. Planning to go on a week long kayak trip down the River of No Return starting on the 4th, hopefully it gets better soon.

Yee Ouch. Aside from the infection I wonder if you are alergic to the venom? What is the river of no return? I miss kayaking is it white water?

The Main Salmon in Idaho, class 3 to 4- white water, 80 miles in the wilderness...had to cancel the trip, so bummed. Infection got worse, went back to the doctor and I am now on 2 antibiotics. If not better by weekend get to go to the er. Permits for floating the river are on a lottery system and we have been trying for years prior to being successful this year, so it will likely be years before we get a chance to go again. Although at this point I'm more concerned about permanent damage to my foot. :-( CRIKEY!
