I forgot about that, but I'm not sure our SD versions can do it, as I caught these guys all the time in my youth, and no blood was spilled. From Wikipedia: "At least four species are also able to squirt an aimed stream of blood from the corners of the eyes for a distance of up to 5 feet. They do this by restricting the blood flow leaving the head, thereby increasing blood pressure and rupturing tiny vessels around the eyelids. This not only confuses predators, but also the blood tastes foul to canine and feline predators. It appears to have no effect against predatory birds."

They're really pretty funny and mellow, almost frog-like...yet boasting the head of a Triceratops! The Alligator Lizards - now those things you need to be careful with.

That's an awesome picture!

Saw two at Hurkey within five feet of each other this weekend. One split and the other hung out for the photo session. I hadn't seen one for years before Saturday.

They look like Microdinos.
