The Bros (from Canada, no relation to Sonny) caught my attention with that first song which sounds strongly like Little Feat. The next one doesn’t, but it’s good too.

An old Byrd still at it.

The feature article in today’s Arts & Culture section of the SDUT is about his local roots growing up in Rancho Santa Fe and embarking (there’s a pun there) on his legendary career.

That was an interesting article and it made me do a mindset course correction about half way through when I learned the details of his family life. I was a bit dismayed at the slightly moralistic tone he took about Gram Parsons, but then again he knew him and I did not.

This is a fun listen every time and I like how the heaviosity of the lyric contrasts with the silly sound of the music.

Sorry/not sorry to post three times in a row. This kid's playing is too good not to share.

I showed this to my son-in-law who is a musician and he was sort of nonplussed, saying that a lot of blues playing is "parlor tricks" such that you can learn certain runs and connect them to make yourself sound more proficient than you are. I don't know...to my mind, that kid not only had super-bad licks, but he played with a lot of emotion.

My son-in-law was more impressed with Molly Tuttle playing a vintage Martin - no smoke and mirrors or "parlor tricks" possible there....
