The Bros (from Canada, no relation to Sonny) caught my attention with that first song which sounds strongly like Little Feat. The next one doesn’t, but it’s good too. |

An old Byrd still at it. The feature article in today’s Arts & Culture section of the SDUT is about his local roots growing up in Rancho Santa Fe and embarking (there’s a pun there) on his legendary career. https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/entertainment/music/story/2020-11-29/so-you-want-to-be-a-rock-and-roll-star-chris-hillman-reflects-on-his-legacy-in-heartfelt-new-memoir |

I was a bit dismayed at the slightly moralistic tone he took about Gram Parsons, but then again he knew him and I did not. |

This is a fun listen every time and I like how the heaviosity of the lyric contrasts with the silly sound of the music. |

I showed this to my son-in-law who is a musician and he was sort of nonplussed, saying that a lot of blues playing is "parlor tricks" such that you can learn certain runs and connect them to make yourself sound more proficient than you are. I don't know...to my mind, that kid not only had super-bad licks, but he played with a lot of emotion. My son-in-law was more impressed with Molly Tuttle playing a vintage Martin - no smoke and mirrors or "parlor tricks" possible there.... |
