Post subject:  tent camping on the central coast Santa Barbara and points
Have any of you camped off highway 1 in a tent and where did you set up camp at. ?
Im headed to Monterey stopping at places to ride, SLO, Cambria, Big Sur, solo.....
Im starting my trek very early Sunday.
I cant afford nights in hotels on such a long trip so I bought camping gear.

My wife and I did a trip to Carmel once where we camped and b&b'd along the way. Unfortunately, we didn't have reservations anywhere, so around Ventura/Santa Barbara was tough. We managed to find a spot in Pt Mugu (IIRC) when someone didn't show up to claim their reserved spot.

After that, we drove up to see Hearst Castle (turns out you need reservations for that too), and there were plenty of spots available at the San Simeon campground.

So, find camp spots online and check for availability is my advice.
