HMMM, thats really interesting. I cant tell if he's for or against the click track. Personally I have done alot of both and usually its not up the the drummer eh? I hated every minute of recording to the click but sometimes it was necessary for certain mixing options. It also ends up adding major time to the headphone mix dial-in which gets costly.

I don't think he was taking a position either way--he was just interested in the method of detection.

I wonder if the program works with odd-timed beats? Ive heard that certain drummers can play to clicks set to odd beat ratios (Tool)

...And just when Sloth was thinking he was cool enough to be considered a geek, he asked....
"Whats a click-track?"

Pete a click track is like a metronome, used either in the analog fashion or a digital reproduction in headphones. Its exactally what it sounds like, so If Im recording to a click track I play with this "click click click" in my ear to identify a perfect rythm, so when you go to add other tracks that might need to be synched the computer (pro-tools) can layer tracks and they will line up correctly. So Click 2 3 4 Click 2 3 4 Click 2 3 4................or click 2 click 4 click 2 click 4. Make sense?

Example, Lincoln Park drummer wears headphones live cause of all the lame effects , ie. Rock Music to Dance to--I hate Lincoln Park but its a goood example.

I think the fact that he uses Python to analyze the songs is even cooler.

That program is pretty amazing, now there needs to be one for lip-synching
