I have been wanting to set up a machine to test work on this site, but since my old lappy's hinge broke, I've been rocking Vista on my new machine (it's not that bad). I have another laptop with Deb on it, but it overheats in a hurry.

Anyway, so I got the crazy idea to run a vm. I went with Virtualbox, and so far, I'm digging it. It's a lot easier to set up than trying to find kernel modules for everything. For example, I've spent hours getting Broadcom firmware working on the old laptop. The vm uses a virtual NIC, so there's no trouble getting network connectivity up. I didn't have to do anything. I'm installing Etch, and surfing the interwebs. I'm in heaven.

So, for you folks out there interested in trying Linux, this could be a very nice option...

Nerdlinger out!

not sure. this is my first virtual experience.

my host is x64 with 4GB memory, and I haven't noticed any issues yet. I haven't tried running WoW or anything on the vm yet.

the thing i'm really loving is i didn't have to fight debian to get wireless working...

I really don't understand how you are faster than me. I will not ride with you again for fear of being bested at a physical challenge by such a monumental nerd!

I'm faster than you??? Oh, yeah, right, I'm the guy that beats everyone to the top of the hill then takes a shot from the inhaler. Then, after losing the inhaler, I'll go all the way back through tunnels backwards then forwards to find it...

Yep, that's me. That's the ticket!
