That map is about 26 hours behind, it has the fire at 4300 acres burned, Inciweb current update is at 14000 acres but their map shows about the same boundaries.

All highways are open again per The Hub Cyclery. Idyllwild was spared. May Valley or Hurkey, dunno.

Really sad to see the developments on this fire. Looks like at least half if not all the standard Hurkey trails are in the burn area.

Just hoping for the best for all the people involved, civilians and firefighters alike.

According to http://idyllwildtowncrier.com/2013/07/1 ... e-updates/, this map was posted at the lake Hemet store at noon yesterday, the fire has since spread north between Red Thaquits and South Peak.

If this fire jumps 74 it may be a good thing so it can burn deadfall from the sawmill trail.
If this fire changes direction its all hands on deck to help out the citizens of an area we love to ride.

~10:40 - "human caused"

Look at the sat maps it originated on one of 3-4 properties. Hopefully they figure out who caused it and make them plant seedlings for a lifetime to replace all the trees that have burned. Its a shame all our high elevation forest seems to be burning and we're not even into the traditional fire season yet. We are going to have no trees left at all if this continues. Be extra careful out there, even hot exhaust from your car or hot brake rotors can ignite dry grasses.

It is not a good thing when a fire jumps a containment line. And no one should go up there who is not already a trained member of a volunteer organization that has called you up. Otherwise, you become a liability not an asset. If someone really wants to help now, check the Town Crier for phone numbers you can call. Maybe they can use some help at an evacuation center, or serving the firefighters encamped at Garner Valley. After this is over there should be plenty of opportunities for volunteers for cleanup and rebuilding.
