Meanwhile, elsewhere.... :(

Just broke out at Mountain Center (between The Hub System and May Valley/Hurkey).

For the sake of the residents on the steep slopes near Marion View, the pristine riding and the safety of fire fighters, I hope this gets put out swiftly. Let's hope the Sunday ride stays on.

Hey Oz, how long ago did this begin?

I have a friend who lives in the neighborhood where the entrance to proj x is at. I've put a call in to make sure his family and his house is all good. He'll be able to give us some updates about that area too. I'll let you all know when I hear from him..

About 1 or so this afternoon.
PJx and the Hub is on the other side of the ridge but hell, we know how wild these fires can turn in a quickie.

Hey guys - maybe someone could start a new thread for this latest fire (the one up near Idyllwild, not the Chariot fire in the Laguna Mts, which is the original topic of this thread).

This thread's title is "Fire near Sunrise Hwy" so any further discussion of "the fire" will confuse people as to which fire you're talking about.

ODD, what FB page are you following for the information? The Hub Cyclery has some pretty good information on the fire. It looks like it cut the may valley trails in half, not good

^^^ Yes, a friend who lives in Idyllwild got that from the personal page of Brendan of The Hub.

My Dad just sent me this link, the mountain fire isn't updated yet, but the Chariot fire is outlined pretty good

from Tmec late last evening

Looks like The Hub System may be spared unless the wind changes direction drastically. That's scary because it would gain elevation and plus there are more structures towards The Hub/Alvin.

If the Mountain Fire crosses the ridge across from either the front or to the left of the deep canyon from where this photo was taken from during our xc ride last Sunday, then The Hub System could burn.

Humidity is expected to pick up late this week. That should help some.

one of my good friends is a fireman at the idyllwild station right next to the fire. we were at the bar last night talking about it and he seemed pretty anxious to get up there. he went into work this morning and sent me some pretty gnarly pics. i'll try to post em up and any other updates he shoots me that way we hear it straight from the horse's mouth.

i ask that all of you keep him and the rest of his co-workers in your prayers & thoughts. as we all know, the job has its tragedies...not to mention is some SERIOUSLY hard fuckin work.

This map has been updated to show the boundaries of the Mountain Fire as of yesterday. Looks like most of the May valley mid section trails burned....
