It would be fun to start this here in San Diego. There are certainly enough good local beers and nice places to hide them. I think STFU would be a good place to start. Play by the rules and bring a beer to replace the one you took.

Since this was my bad idea, I am the first person to contribute a beer to the cause. I started this game with a familiar beer in a familiar place.

If you stand facing the 3 barrels on the trail bearing the same name, to the left is a small bush. Just about dead-center in that bush, on the ground, is a 12 oz. bottle of Ballast Point Sculpin IPA. I put a small rusted triangle - shaped piece of metal in front of the bush so you know you're looking in the right one.

Play by the rules and replace that beer with another beer in the same location or pick a new location, stock it with a beer, and post that up.

Are there rattlesnakes guarding it?

That thought definitely went through my mind when I was hiding it. I made sure I could see very well into the area I stuck my hand. Just up the trail I nearly ran over a 3' diamondback sunning himself on some singletrack, so they are definitely out there.

What could I have done to make it easier? Put the beer in your fridge for you? Still there as of 6:30 this evening.

Cool -- I'd hate to think I was wasting a bottle of good beer. I know that there are plenty of other STFU-riding beer drinkers on this board, so I'll let them claim the bottle you stash.

Game on.. Thank you this is going to be delicious! I have actually never had a sculpin in the bottle only on tap. That will all change this evening as I enjoy the beer booty..

Image

I have replaced the sculpin with a beer in the exact same spot (I did have to add a couple of rocks to hide the glaring blue color that was coming from the center of the bush). However, if you want the good stuff you're going to have to go deeper.

Once you find this gnome:

Image

Face the gnome and look to your right, the second bush down the trail is brown and crusty, look inside to find the prize. A new favorite of mine this beer tastes very green and alive. A Lagunitas Brewing Company beer that is so hoppy it's stoopid.

Enjoy!

Sounds like you hid a turd in a gnomes ass! I need to play this game though. I'm going to try and get out there this weekend with some frosty ones for me, and a warm one for a hole or a bush...

Should this game be moved to Marian Bear?

^^^ By all means, branch out. Calavera would be a good venue, but the beers should be hidden somewhere other than the riders' tailgates.

I heard a rumor a long time ago that Calaveras has been known to have trail side "refreshments" hidden along the way.... happy hunting

Nope. That's reserved for the Hide the Salami game.
