What a great song - haven't heard that song in ages and I have never seen the video. It was fun checking the style of the different players, especially the drummer and the guy on keys.

We all grow up. As I'm working at home, I'm not sure if I should rock the mohawk or a pencil thin mustach. I'll figure it out come Monday.

All great songs. The intro to "Elected" sounds a lot like "Dolly Dagger" by Jimi Hendrix, and the intro to "No More Mr. Nice Guy" sounds like something by CCR, but still....

...just in case you doubted me about "Elected." [Edit: given that Hendrix was left-handed and black, I wonder where this video came from.]

Agreed. After barely surviving cancer, he had a hell of a good comeback run. Sad it had to end this way. Too many sweet, funny, poignant, and heartbreaking songs to know where to start. I’m going to choose this one simply because I just listened to it. I don’t usually go for the rhinestone cowboy version, and he certainly didn’t either, but this has good audio and accompaniment, and it shows the toll taken, and the respect he earned from the Nashville cats.

The lyrics “where the air smelled like snakes...” reminded me that sometimes on a ride I’ll catch up to the group and say “it smelled like a snake right back there” and get a puzzled look in return. Just an old country boy I guess.
