My son has outgrown his 16 inch Giant single speed and, since we live in a hilly area, needs his first geared bike. He is 6 and eager to start riding with dad on the mountain. I am looking at a 20 inch wheel size for him.

I will buy used or new depending on how well kept the used is. I know he will out grow it in 2-3 years, but I prefer a quality bike over a Walmart bike at this stage. It seems that $3-400 will get me pick of the litter.

Any brand or model suggestions?
